III. Padres proveen para sus hijos, 1 Tim. 5:8.

A. Proveer para sus necesidades físicas: alimento, casa, ropa, atención médica.

A. Provide for their physical needs: food, house, clothing, medical attention.

B. Buen matrimonio, buen hogar, esposos fieles (Jer. 5:8), ambiente de amor (1 Cor. 13:4-7; 16:14), mucho cariño, paz, armonía.

B. Pero depende también de los hijos (tienen libre albedrío). No usar mal Prov. 22:6, instruye al niño con-forme a su manera (Isa. 10:24), costumbre (Gén. 19:31); llega a ser segunda naturaleza.

¿“Enseña al niño el camino en que debe andar… no se apartará”? Puede ser holgazán (10:5); terco (13:1); necio (15:20); robarles (28:24); libertino (29:3). Ezeq 18:10, hombre justo engendra hijo ladrón o homicida. Ezequías era muy fiel, pero su hijo, Manasés era lo peor de los hombres (2 Crón. 33).

“Teach a child the way he should go… and he won’t depart”? Can be lazy (10:5); mocker (13:1); foolish (15:20); rob them (28:24); libertine (29:3).  Ezek. 18:10, righteous man begets a son that’s a thief, murderer. Hezekiah was very faithful but his son, Manasseh was the worst of men (2 Chron. 33).

Culpa de padres? Isa. 1:2, Dios dice, “crié hijos y se rebelaron contra mí”. 1 Cor. 9:27; 10:12. Todos pueden caer.

Fault of parents? Isa. 1:2, God says, “I have reared children, and they have rebelled against me.” 1 Cor. 9:27; 10:12. Everyone can fall.

Proverbio = verdad general, pero hay excepciones. Prov. 18:22, “El que halla esposa halla el bien y alcanza el favor del Señor”. ¿Siempre? ¿Sin excepción?

Proverb = general truth, but there are exceptions. Proverbs 18:22, “He who finds a wife finds a good thing, And obtains favor from the LORD.” Always? Without exception?

Sin embargo, esto nos obliga a esforzarnos aun más para enseñar, entrenar y disciplinar a los hijos para que sean cristianos.

However, this obligates us to try even harder to teach, train, discipline our children so they will be Christians.

Francamente, es tarea formidable. Es muy fácil fallar. Muchos fallan. TV, Internet, amigos, diversiones, poco apetito espiritual, el mundo invita, oprime, presiona…

Frankly, it’s a formidable task. It is very easy to fail. Many fail. TV, Internet, friends, diversions, little spiritual appetite, the world invites, oppresses, pressures…

Pero muchos padres sí son exitosos. Es posible. No se desanimen. Estén resueltos a tener hijos cristianos.

But many parents are successful. It is possible. Don’t be discouraged. Be resolved to have children that are Christians.

Conclusión. Gén. 33:5, “¿Quiénes son éstos? Y Él respondió: --Son los hijos que Dios, en su gracia, ha dado a tu siervo.

Sal. 127:3, “He aquí, heredad de Jehová son los hijos; recompensa es el fruto del vientre”.

Los hijos son una gran bendición y también una gran responsabilidad. Hay mucho que deben aprender y los padres son los principales maestros.

Children are a great blessing and also a great responsibility. There is much that they should learn and parents are the principal teachers.

Esto requiere mucho amor, mucho estudio, mucho trabajo – ¡mucho TIEMPO! Pero la recompensa es grande.

Que Dios es el Creador

I. El poder de Dios, leer Gén. 1, 2, frecuentemente, despacio, con explicación y énfasis.

That God is the Creator

I. The power of God, read Gen. 1, 2 frequently, slowly, with explanation, and emphasis.

Con pequeños, “¿quién hizo este árbol? ¿Quién hizo el perrito? ¿Quién hizo el sol?” Que antes de Gén. 1 no existieron.

With little ones, “who made this tree? Who made this puppy? Who made the sun?” That before Gen. 1 they did not exist.

Y, más importante, Dios hizo al hombre. Lea con cuidado Gén. 1:26, 27; 2:7, 18-23, no una vez sino repetidas veces. Animarles a comentar (¿Qué te parece?), preguntar.

And, most important, God made man. Read carefully Gen. 1:26, 27; 2:7; 18-23, not once but repeatedly. Encourage them to comment (What do you think?), ask questions.

Para niños de escuela, exponer la falsedad de la “evolución” porque se enseña en la escuela, la televisión, libritos, etc. Tales incrédulos deben leer Hech. 14:15; 17:24.

For school-age children, expose the error of “evolucion” because it is taught at school, on television, in booklets, etc. Such unbelievers should read Acts 14:15; 17:24.

Lea 2 Tim. 4:4. Hablar de “fábulas” que los niños conocen. Explicar que “evolución” es otra fábula (puro cuento, no realidad), pero que se enseña en la escuela como ciencia.

Read 2 Tim. 4:4. Talk about the “fables” that they know about. Explain that “evolution” is another fable (just a story, not real), but that it is taught in school as science.

Explicar que Jesús es Dios y que “Todas las cosas por él fueron hechas”, Juan 1:1, 3; Col. 1:15-17; Heb. 1:2, 3, “sustenta todas las cosas por la palabra de su poder”.

Explain that Jesus is God and that “All things were made through Him,” John 1:1, 3; Col. 1:15-17; Heb. 1:2, 3, He “upholds all things by the word of His power.”

Muy importante que entiendan que Dios es activo, todos los días. El mundo no funciona solo. Dios obra (Juan 5:17). No está cansado, ni jubilado. Mat. 5:45.

Very important that they understand that God is active, every day. The world does not function by itself. God works (Jn. 5:17). He is not tired, nor retired. Matt. 5:45.

Hech. 17:25, “El es quien da a todos vida y aliento y todas las cosas”. Nos cuida, nos protege (1 Cor. 10:13). Nos oye cuando oramos. Es nuestro Padre Celestial.

Acts 17:25, “He gives to all life, breath, and all things.” He cares for us, protects us (1 Cor. 10:13). He hears us when we pray. He is our Heavenly Father.

Sant. 1:17, “Toda buena dádiva y todo don perfecto viene de lo alto, desciende del Padre de las luces, con el cual no hay cambio ni sombra de variación”.

James 1:17 “Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning.”

Pida que los niños/jóvenes nombren las cosas buenas que reciban, las que les hacen felices, contentos. No vienen por casualidad; vienen de Dios.

Ask the children/young people to name the good things they receive, those that make them happy, content. They don’t just happen; they come from God.

Entonces, enséñeles que somos totalmente dependientes de Dios. Sí, trabajamos, pero El nos da todo. Por eso, le damos gracias.

Then, teach them that we are totally dependent on God. Yes, we work, but He gives us everything. Therefore, we give Him thanks.

III. Todo esto indica que Dios nos ama. Ex.34:6; Jer. 31:3; Jn. 3:16; 1 Jn. 4:8. Y por eso debemos amar a Dios. Mat. 22:37, 38; 1 Jn. 4:19.

III. All this indicates that God loves us. Ex. 34:6; Jer. 31:3; Jn. 3:16; 1 Jn. 4:8. And therefore we should love God. Matt. 22:37, 38; 1 Jn. 4:19.

Y ¿cómo mostramos nuestro amor hacia El? Jn. 14:15, 23; 1 Jn.5:3. Deut. 6: 24, sus mandamientos son “para nuestro bien y para preservarnos la vida”.

And how do we show our love toward Him? Jn.14:15; 23; 1 Jn. 5:3; Deut. 6:24, His commandments are “for our good always, that He might preserve us alive”.

Mucho depende de los padres, cómo hablan de la iglesia, del culto, de las clases bíblicas y de la vida diaria en el servicio de Dios.

Much depends on the parents, how they talk about the church, the worship, the Bible classes, and of daily life in the service of God.

IV. También indica que debemos someternos a El. El es Creador, nos sostiene, nos ama… Por eso, debemos obedecerle en todo.

IV. It also indicates that we should submit to Him. He is the Creator, He sustains us, He loves us… Therefore, we should obey Him in everything.

Debemos enfatizar que si no obedecemos a Dios estamos obedeciendo al diablo (Satanás). Que hay solamente dos maestros y dos caminos.

We should emphasize that if we do not obey God we are obeying the devil (Satan). That there are only two masters and two roads.

Debemos contar muchas historias bíblicas para ilustrar cómo Dios bendice a los obedientes y castiga a los desobedientes. ¿Cuántas historias conocen sus hijos?

We should tell many Bible stories to illustrate how God blesses those who were obedient and punishes those who were disobedient. How many do they know?

En esto los hijos aprenden no sólo a obedecer a Dios, sino también a sus padres, maestros, la policía, patrones, etc.

In this our children learn not only to obey God but also obey their parents, teachers, the police, employers, etc.

Conclusión. Hablamos de un deber principal de los padres. Deben “proveer” esto, 1 Tim. 5:8. Si no, no aman a sus hijos.

Conclusion. We speak of a principal duty of parents. They should “provide” this, 1 Tim. 5:8. If not, they do not love their children.

Introducción. En primer lugar enfatizar la necesidad de enseñarles. De otro modo, ¿por qué hablar de “lo que deben enseñar”.

Introduction. In first place, emphasize the need to teach them. Otherwise, why talk about “what they should teach them”?

I. Resultado de no enseñarles. Jueces 2:10, “se levantó otra generación después de ellos que no conocía al Señor, ni la obra que El había hecho por Israel”.

I. Result of not teaching them. Judges 2:10, “another generation arose after them who did not know the Lord nor the work which He had done for Israel.”

Por ej., plagas de Egipto, Mar Rojo, maná, agua de la peña, Jericó, etc. ¿Conocen sus hijos estas grandes “obras” de Dios?

      For ex., plagues of Egypt, Red Sea, manna, water from rock, Jericho, etc. Do your children know these great works of God?

Josué 4:5-7, “¿Qué significan estas piedras?” ¿Cuántos preguntan? O si preguntan, ¿Cómo les contestan?

Joshua 4:5-7, “What is the meaning of these stones?” How many ask? Or if they do, how do you answer them?

Oseas 4:6, “Mi pueblo es destruido por falta de conocimiento. Por cuanto tú has rechazado el conocimiento, yo también te rechazaré…”

Hosea 4:6, “My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge. Because you have rejected knowledge, I also will reject you…”

Salmo 78:1-7, “nuestros padres nos las contaron… contando a la generación venidera las alabanzas de Jehová, y su potencia y las maravillas que hizo…no se olviden”.

Psalm 78:1-7, “our fathers have told us… Telling to the generation to come the praises of the LORD, And His strength and His wonderful works that He has done…not forget the works of God.”

La preocupación de Job (1:5): “ofrecía holocaustos conforme al número de (sus hijos). Porque decía: Quizá mis hijos hayan pecado y maldecido a Dios en sus corazones.”

Job’s concern (1:5): “offer burnt offerings according to the number of them all. For Job said, "It may be that my sons have sinned and cursed God in their hearts."

II. Papel de la iglesia. 1 Tim. 3:15; Efes. 4:12. Por eso, asistir clases, servicios; a tiempo; estudiar para clases; participar en todo. Mat. 6:33, “buscad primeramente el reino…”

II. Role of the church. 1 Tim. 3:15; Eph. 4:12. Therefore, attend classes, services; be on time; study for class; participate in everything. Matt. 6:33, “Seek first the kingdom…”

III. Pero padres son los más responsables. Deut. 6:6-7. Israel no lo hizo (Juec. 2:10). ¿Nosotros? ¿Dependemos de estas dos clases y estos dos servicios de la iglesia?

III. But parents are the most responsible. Deut. 6:6-7. Israel did not do it (Jud. 2:10). What about us? Do we depend on these two classes and two services of the church?

Muy recomendable tener tiempo fijo (hábito) para estudiar. Apagar TV, teléfonos. Hijos lean, comenten, hagan preguntas, expresen convicciones. Canten, oren juntos.

Very recommendable have set time (habit) to study. Turn off TV, phones. Children read, comment, ask questions, express convictions. Sing, pray together.

No decir “no hay tiempo”. Trabajo, escuela, tareas, actividades. Es cuestión de prioridad Poner lo primero primero. Dios no acepta sobrantes. El es primero o no es nada.

Not say “no time.” Work, school, homework, actividades. It’s a question of priority. Put first things first. God does not accept leftovers. He is first or nothing.

IV. No sólo enseñar, sino enseñar efectivamente: 5 puntos: conocimiento, convicción, entusiasmo (con expresión apropiada), repetición, participación (no como catecismo sino animándoles a comentar).

IV. Not only teach but teach effectively: 5 points: knowledge, conviction, enthusiasm (proper expresión), repetition, participation (not like catechism; encourage comments from them).

V. Luc. 5:4, Vaya al agua más profunda. Libros, textos menos conocidos, más difíciles. Historias no leídas y por eso no enseña-das. Aprender, conocer toda la Biblia.

V. Luke 5:4, Launch out into the deep water. Books, texts less known, more difficult. Stories not read and so not taught. Learn, know all the Bible.

¿Por qué tanto énfasis en historias bíblicas? Conocen a Dios a través de hombres y mujeres de Dios. Amor, obediencia, pureza, esperanza, paciencia, valentía…

Why so much emphasis on Bible stories? Know God through men and women of God. Love, obedience, purity, hope, patience, courage…

Sobre todo, que conozcan a Dios a través de Cristo. Jn. 1:18 “le ha dado a conocer”; 5:18, “igual a Dios”; 14:9, “si me ha visto a mí han visto al Padre”.

Above all, that they know God through Christ. Jn. 1:18, “He has made Him known”; 5:18, “equal with God”; 14:9, “if you have seen me you have seen the Father.”

VI. Memorizar muchos textos. Sal. 119:11, “En mi corazón he atesorado tu palabra, para no pecar contra ti”. Col. 3:16, “Que la palabra de Cristo habite en abundancia en vosotros…”

Deben memorizar (en casa, en clases) textos: 5 pasos al obedecer al evangelio; 5 actos de culto; sobre amor (1 Cor. 13:4-7), sobre fe (Heb. 11), sobre eventos finales.

Should memorize (at home, in classes) texts: 5 steps in obeying gospel; 5 acts of worship; about love (1 Cor. 13:4-7), about faith (Heb. 11), about final events.

Conclusión. Conocimiento bíblico es la  herencia de los hijos. Su derecho. No robarles, no defraudarles…

Conclusion. Bible knowledge is the inheritance of children. Their right. Don’t rob them, defraud them…

Muchos niños modernos son enseñados por la Niñera Electrónica que habla muchas groserías y tonterías.

Many modern children are taught by the Electronic Babysitter that speaks a lot of vulgarity and foolishness.

Los hijos son “herencia de Dios” (Sal. 127:3). No deben ser sacrificados sobre el altar de Satanás. Es lo que hacen padres demasiado ocupados para enseñarles.

Children are “a heritage from God” (Ps. 127:3). They should not be sacrificed on the altar of Satan. That is what parents who are too busy to teach them.

Es tarea formidable: TV, escuela, tareas, amigos (presión de ser iguales), cosas materiales, placeres de esta vida, no el “porvenir” sino “aquí, ahora” les interesa.

Formidable task: TV, school, homework, friends (peer pressure), material things, pleasures of this life, not “future things” but “here, now” interests them.

Siempre recordando el propósito: Que sean cristianos… Que se preparen para el juicio… Que no vayan al infierno… Que sí vayan al cielo.

Always remembering the purpose: That they be Christians… That they prepare for the judgment… That they not go to hell… That they do go to heaven.
