(Heb. 1:10, 11, “You, LORD, in the beginning laid the foundation of the earth, And the heavens are the work of Your hands. They will perish, but You remain.”)

       C. La palabra de Dios permanece para siempre – (The word of God abides forever).

(Ps. 33:11, “The counsel of the LORD stands forever.”)

(Isa. 40:8, “The grass withers, the flower fades, But the word of our God stands forever.")

(1 Pet. 1:23, “having been born again, not of corruptible seed but incorruptible, through the word of God which lives and abides forever.”)

(2 Jn. 2, “because of the truth which abides in us and will be with us forever.”)

       D. El reino permanece. The kingdom abides.

(Matt. 16:18, “on this rock (the deity of Christ confessed by Peter) will build My church, and the gates of Hades shall not prevail against it.”)

(Heb. 12:28, “since we receive a kingdom which cannot be shaken, let us show gratitude, by which we may offer to God an acceptable service with reverence and awe.”)

II. Por eso, debemos permanecer. – Therefore we should abide.

(1 John 2:24, “let that abide in you which you heard from the beginning. If what you heard from the beginning abides in you, you also will abide in the Son and in the Father.”)

       B. Permanecer en Cristo. Abide in Christ.

(John 6:56, “"He who eats My flesh and drinks My blood abides in Me, and I in him.” To “eat my flesh and drink my blood” (v. 54) means to believe on Him (v. 40).)

(John 15:4, “Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in Me.”)

       C. Permanecer en la verdad (la palabra). Abide in truth (the word). (John 8:31, “Then Jesus said to those Jews who believed Him, "If you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed.”)

Sant. (James 1:25, “he who looks into the perfect law of liberty and continues in it, and is not a forgetful hearer but a doer of the work, this one will be blessed in what he does”.)

               1. Muchos caen en error doctrinal. (Many fall into doctrinal error).

                      a. (Gal. 1:6-9; 5:7, “You ran well. Who hindered you from obeying the truth?”)

                      b. Efes. (Eph. 4:14, “that we should no longer be children, tossed to and fro and carried about with every wind of doctrine.”)

                      c. (Heb. 13:9, “Do not be carried about with various and strange doctrines.”) Heb. 13:9, “Do not be carried about with various and strange doctrines.” (Jesus without divine attributes; 6 days = millions of years; if divorced, free, etc.)

       D. Permanecer en la fe – Abide in the faith. Hech. (Acts 14:22, “strengthening the souls of the disciples, exhorting them to continue in the faith, and saying, "We must through many tribulations enter the kingdom of God.")

       E. Permanecer en Su amor – Abide in His love. (Jn. 15:9, “As the Father loved Me, I also have loved you; abide in My love.”)

       F. Permanezca el amor fraternal. Heb. 13:1, “Permanezca el amor fraternal”. (Heb. 13:1, “Let brotherly love continue.”)

III. Otras palabras semejantes – Other words that are similar

       A. Perseverar – Persevere.

               1. Perseverar en la doctrina de los apóstoles – Continue in the apostles’ doctrine. Hech. (Acts 2:42,”And they continued steadfastly in the apostles' doctrine and fellowship, in the breaking of bread, and in prayers.”)

               2. Perseverar en oración – Continue in prayer. (Col. 4:2, “Continue earnestly in prayer, being vigilant in it with thanksgiving.”) Hech. (Acts 1:14, “These all continued with one accord in prayer and supplication, with the women and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with His brothers.”)

               3. Perseverar en el bien hacer – Continue in well doing. (Rom. 2:7, “eternal life to those who by patient continuance in doing good seek for glory, honor, and immortality.”) 1 Cor. 15:58; Gál. 6:9.

(Well doing, being active in good works, helping others,  sharing with faithful brethren, in evangelism as well as in benevolence).

                      b. Somos ricos. (We are rich. We spend much for our own pleasure (clothing, jewelry, restaurants, station wagons, SUVS, trips). We must combat selfishness. The great desire of men, and even members of the church, is to “live on the earth in pleasure”. That is not our purpose here.)

       B. Paciencia significa perseverancia. Patience means perseverance. Rom. 5:3, “la tribulación produce paciencia (perseverancia)”. (Rom. 5.3, “tribulation produces patience (perseverance).”) (Heb. 12:1, “let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with patience (perseverance) the race that is set before us.”)

       C. Persistir. Persist. 2 Tim. 3:14, “Pero persiste tú en lo que has aprendido y te has persuadido, sabiendo de quienes lo has aprendido”. (2 Tim. 3:14, “But you must continue in the things which you have learned and been assured of, knowing from whom you have learned them.”)

       1. Luc. 14:28-33 – Lk. 14:28-33.

(It’s sad to begin to study – on whatever level, from primary to university -- and not finish).

(Gen. 49:3, Many members are like Ruben, “Unstable as water”.)

(Like the Israelites, Ex. 32:8, "They have turned aside quickly out of the way which I commanded them.”) (Hosea 6:4, “For your faithfulness is like a morning cloud, And like the early dew it goes away.”)

(Gal. 1:6, “I marvel that you are turning away so soon from Him who called you in the grace of Christ to a different gospel.”

V. Por qué algunos no permanen? (Why some do not continue).

(Because of the cares of this life and the deceitfulness of riches, Matt. 13:22, “Now he who received seed among the thorns is he who hears the word, and the cares of this world and the deceitfulness of riches choke the word, and he becomes unfruitful.”)

(For lack of sufficient interest in spiritual matters, Jn. 6:66, “From that time many of His disciples went back and walked with Him no more.”)

(For failure to watch and pray. Matt. 26:41, "Watch and pray, lest you enter into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.")

       3. Por amar al mundo – because of love for the world.

               a. Sant. Do you not know that friendship with the world is enmity with God? Whoever therefore wants to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God.”)

               b. 1 Jn. 2:15-17… 2 Ped. 3:10 (2 Pet. 3:10).

(2 Tim. 4:10, “Demas has forsaken me, having loved this present world, and has departed for Thessalonica”.)

       4. Por no poner a Cristo y la iglesia en primer lugar – Because they don’t put Christ and the church first.)

               a. Mat. 6:33. (Mat. 6:33. Matt. 6:35 says, “Seek the church first unless you have to work.”). ¡Busque este texto! Léalo. (Look for this text! Read it)

(1 Cor. 11:24, “Do this (Lord’ Supper) in memory of me,” but another text says, “Do this in memory of me if you don’t have to work (Jude chapter 2, verse 1). Busquen estos textos para leerlos con cuidado. (Look up these texts to read them carefully).

(Because of limping between two opinions. 1 Kings 18:21, “And Elijah came to all the people, and said, "How long will you falter between two opinions?)

(Because of being “double-minded,” James 1:8; 4:8. 1 Cor. 10:21, “You cannot drink the cup of the Lord and the cup of demons; you cannot partake of the Lord's table and of the table of demons.”). Mat. 6:24.

Mat. 25:1-13. (For not having enough oil in their lamps. Matt. 25:1-13).

(For not preparing to meet their God, Amos 4:12, “Prepare to meet your God, O Israel!")

       Conclusión.

       A. Permanecer para poder Terminar.  Abide in order to Finish.

(Luke 13:32, "Go, tell that fox, 'Behold, I cast out demons and perform cures today and tomorrow, and the third day I shall be perfected.”)

(Jn. 17:4, “I have glorified You on the earth. I have finished the work which You have given Me to do.”)

               3. 2 Tim. 4:7, “He peleado la buena batalla, he terminado la carrera, he guardado la fe”. (2 Tim. 4:7, “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.”) Hech. 20:24 explica el por qué. (Acts 20:24 explains why).

(1 Jn. 2:17, And the world is passing away, and the lust of it; but he who does the will of God abides forever.)
